Chess PC Software

Could somebody help me about a question on chess software?

I looking to purchase a chess game/software for my computer, and I have came across the Fritz series. I was wondering what the difference between the Deep Fritz 12 and the Fritz 12 software is. The only differnce I know of is that the Deep Fritz 12 is twice as much as the Fritz 12 is.

If you may know of a program that is better suited for an amatuer, I have just recently picked up chess, than please let me know about that as well.

I like Shredder because it plays more like a real player than most of the chess software I have tried.   You can download a free trial version to see if you like it or not.
