We all know there is very little, if any, relationship between chess and intelligence (<insert joke about the forums here>). In fact, some non-human animals have been known to play a decent game of chess, and chimps can beat humans at some feats of memory. There is also a company that employs non-human primates for contract programming.
This all raises an important question with regards to animals and chess: should animals play in their own tournaments, since they're not quite at the human level yet, and should they have their own titles like CGM for Chimp Grandmaster? They might not be playing at the HGM level anytime soon, but surely the Fischers and Polgars among the chimps, elephants, huskies, and other chess-playing non-humans deserve some recognition.
