It all reminds me of measuring the phallus in the elementary. (Though at least that was more objective.)
Chess rating and IQ (oh no, not again)

im a 15 year old play at least 2 games daily for last month . My IQ is at 183 but my rating is sub 1300 im kinda new to takin chess seriously .. just to put my value of data in here lol :)
Yet another instance of IQ being mysteriously accurate

I must have slept through that class.

My IQ is about 225, which correlates pretty well with my rating, which is about 2250.
I'm trying to get my rating up to 2300 though, so I figure the easiest way to do that is to raise my IQ.

I didn't find it very interesting either.

Online IQ tests aren't worth the paper they're printed on.
Offline aren't worth much more.
I always get a laugh out of people boasting of Mensa membership, though.

But online tests aren't printed on pape...oho I see what you did there. Well played.

Completely_, how is your IQ 54 pts. higher than mine??? Did you cheat?
No, II had it done when I was 7.
I'm pretty sure that's cheating. Mine was done when I was 30. Did they let you erase your answers, and take you to the back of the room?
No, I once was a member of Mensa and have Asperger's syndrome. Anything else you need to know about my life story?
How do you lose membership of Mensa? I thought it was a lifetime thing, unless you have a lobotomy or something.

Also, when I was 4 I could count backwards from 100 to 1 in French, when I was 8 I could recite the first 600 digits of pi, and when I was 9 I got an A* in my International GSCE Maths. Sadly I have not learnt much since then.
Hellooo! IQ testers stop me while I'm driving, and ask me to count backwards...in English! When I was 27, I could get out of a traffic ticket. When I was 29, I paid my rent 10 out of 12 months! During the presidential elections of 2008, I was the only one protesting that didn't get tasered! Sadly, I still exist...
Gotta love you for this post trysts!

lol !! nice one Heinzie. I did go for a MENSA test several years ago and can safely say i am 'above average', but not very near the '98th percentile'. Kind of reminds me of trying to reach the '33rd degree' in Freemasonry, for better or for worse.

I did two separate Internet IQ tests about 10 years ago (for statistics) and scored 159 in one and 160 in the other. I don't have an official rating but my chess.com CC rating is 2093 today.
Disclaimer: neither result is very reliable. I've read that intelligence peaks at the age of 22 and starts to decay at around 27. And we all know how volatile one's chess rating can be. You can't just pick a number for each value and expect them to represent an individual's capabilities equally. IQ is based on age and chess rating is based on experience, the peaks of which simply do not coincide for the majority of individuals, especially non-professional chess players.
Is IQ and FIDE rating related at all?
