Chess Terms in Spanish

Correction:  In my last comment where I said Arfil, I meant to say Alfil

Yeah, but in Spanish the names of the chess pieces doesn't mean the same they mean in English. In Spanish the piece with horse shape is called "horse"

As for alfíl, it derives from an arab word (arabs introduced the game in Spain, maybe the first place in Europe) which meant "elephant" which was a piece of Shatranj

Spanish word for chess "ajedrez" is also arab

I continue adding to my collection of good chess term translations from  English to Spanish.  What are some translations for rating, and rating points, etc?

It isn't unusual to say "rating", as in English, in Spain. When you are talking about rating points you usually simply say "Elo". It's curious, "chances" is also a usual word even talking in Spanish when you are commenting a game.

Thank you Pulpofeira.  Can you give me an example using Elo in a sentance (en español) and maybe one using ''chances'' as well?

For example: "tu Elo va a subir si ganas este torneo"; "el negro está algo peor pero hay chances de igualar".

It's not curious is Spanglish, and something we should avoid as there are words in Spanish with the same meaning. To use English words better talk directly in English
