Chess Vision - Visualization puzzles

Hi all,

I've been working on a little web project to help with my own visualization trouble, and I thought I'd share it here to see what people think. Take a look here. These are puzzles that are specifically designed to test visual retention, based on positions from actual games.

If you give it a try, please post here to let me know what you think. If you have any suggestions for improvements or any general questions let me know. If you experience any bugs or anything strange, please tell me which browser and device type you are using.

I'm finding these kind of fun and definitely challenging. It's especially fun on my iPad, as it's easier to go faster and rack up a few extra points compared to using a mouse.

Looking forward to hearing your opinion!

Hey, this is useful, and very nicely done! 😊 I really like it. Have you considered making an app version (for iOS)? Perhaps with extra functionality? (not sure what though, but I’ll have a think). Anyway, well done, and keep up the good work... 👍🏻

One suggestion could be... how about an option for just choosing the number of pieces (between 1-32), which then appear *anywhere* on the board (ie rather than in a grid)? Obviously this could lead to lots of silly/random/unlikely positions, but if you could somehow draw the positions from a database of actual (classic?) games...? 🤔 This might make the challenge of beating one’s previous high score a little more addictive? However, it’s still already really cool as it is though... 👍🏻

Thanks, Sloppy!

Your idea is interesting and shouldn't be that hard to do so I'll definitely think about it. It's already drawing from actual games, so I can use the same method to just pull a certain number of pieces. The trick might be to have it make any sense, since the pieces might be scattered and have no influence over each other.
