Chessbase 16 My Moves question

I just got Chessbase 16. I saw a few videos online about using the My Moves (star) function to create your repertoire. I cannot mark, save, or use Load White/Load Black functions at all. Am I missing some setup step to make it work?

What I did: I opened my chessbase 16 and made sure it is logged in with my chessbase account. I then opened a new board. I then clicked the Live Book tab and clicked through a few moves. I then right-clicked on one of the moves and selected Mark as My Move (nothing appears in the My Moves column (there should be a mark there; I also tried star on the bottom with the same result). I then went to My Moves tab and it is empty (I clicked load white and load black in the training tab and it is not doing anything). Could anyone with chessbase experience please help or point me in the right direction?

Hi Sergey,

I've recently been playing around with "My Moves" and have found some success and some frustrations too.  You basically have this collection of moves that is stored on your Chessbase account.  One for White.  One for Black.  Note to self:  Be careful not to overwrite your 500-move collection with the 4 moves that you are trying to add, thus having to spend the entire afternoon rebuilding it.  Also, be mindful if the moves are going to white/black.

I try the following steps to help make it go smoother:

1.  Load White (or Black)  --important to load all the stuff you already have so it doesn't get overwritten.  Sometimes, I've seen it already loaded, and other times I had to do so manually.

2.  Make all the moves you want.  See them in Notations.  Star what you want.  Do each variation individually, unless it is a standard repertoire (in that case, all the variations will be in there).  The Notation and star show up in My Moves (not Notation). This is probably what is troubling you.  I don't know why.  I spent some time puzzled over this very issue.  Another gotcha:  If you star a black move, it will go in the black "My Moves".  Ditto for white.

3.  Make sure what you want is ALL your moves is in the My Moves tab.  Then you can upload this new, appended version to the cloud with "upload to my moves" and the new lines will be added.  Make sure you do step 1 first, so you don't overwrite all of your previous work.

The mechanics of setting this up seem a little clunky at first, but I love the concept and use it quite a bit.

Cheers,  DT
