Chessbase, Hiarcs, Scid

Grazie in anticipo

Hello,
I understand your dilemma! Chessbase is a powerful tool but can be pricey. Hiarcs Chess Explorer is a great, more affordable alternative with many useful features. Scid is also a solid free option, though it may require more effort to set up and manage databases.

Thanks for the reply John. Have you ever personally tried either one?

The time I have spend to set up ScidvsPc a few years ago were the best spend hours in my chess life. I use it on a daily basis now.

(Btw Scid and ScidvsPC are not the same. They do the same but it’s different software).

Thanks AtaChess68, have you ever tried the comparison with Chessbase or Hiarcs?
Between Scid and Scid vs PC which is more suitable?

I have only used ScidvsPC, so I can’t compare (except for the money, ScidvsPC is free in all aspects).

Is there a guide to learn how to use it and feed it with databases etc?

AtaChess68
I followed a YouTube from Coffee with Teddy Bear, Scid vs PC how to setup and use.

Pro tip: when you are done with the setup, don’t start working straight away but do some tests. I my first days I lost my work a few times. I can’t remember how and it never happens anymore but apparently there were a few counter intuitive clicks.
