Chess.com probably may have infected with Vundo trojan virus

My computer is actively protected with anti-virus software. Recently, everytime I visited the Tactics Trainer webpage, my computer slowed down a little bit, and then immediately my anti-virus program alerted that Vundo virus has arrived. My computer got infected with it now, though my anti-virus is attempting to remove it. This is supposed to be one of the latest viruses that I found while searching about it on the Internet and several webistes mentioned that this virus is difficult to remove from the computer. I am not sure ofcourse if this virus really is coming from chess.com website right now, but my natural assumption would be so, because this virus gets loaded into my computer everytime I visit the Tactics Trainer webpage of the chess.com website. I thought of passing this along to you all and I am trying to send this to the chess.com webmaster also so they can also look into it to verify and make sure.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm sure Erik and his staff will check this out.

It's not from us. It's either your virus scanner thinking something is bad when it's not, or your computer is infected with spyware from somewere else. You can read this page for more info.

erik

it isn't us. let me guess - you are using Norton Antivirus 2007?

I am using McAfee. I researched on the net about it and somewhere it was mentioned that this virus also comes from an infected webpage. Since everytime I visited the Tactics Trainer page, McAfee immediately prompted me about this virus, so I thought may be if the Tactics Trainer page got infected with it. I am sure you guys will ensure chess.com website it virus free :), but wanted to pass this along and make sure, so I don't worry about accessing Tactics Trainer and other webpages on this website. Thanks for your quick response!

i assure you that the Chess.com is not infected. i personally run 2 antivirus programs that throw no flags on Tactics Trainer. also, there would be massive outcry. whenever we see somebody submit about a virus on chess.com it always comes out to be on the user end. i recommend you update mcafee as much as possible. also, try other antivirus programs. what you are seeing is either a mistaken library in mcafee, or a false positive.

Never have to worry about this crap again.

But dec_lan, isn't linux hard to use and install? I also heard there are no programs for it. How would I get Microsoft Word to work?

Maybe if you've been kicked in the head by a horse.

Chess.com should change to linux as well and stop spending on Antivirus software!

@ishmandoo: You should try Ubuntu Linux! Its made to be easy for windows users to switch to linux!
