Does the Chessmaster forum still exist? I tried to find it yesterday, and it doesn't seem to exist anymore.

I might as well ask my question here just in case anyone here can help me and it doesn't.

I got Chessmaster Grandmaster edition this week. When I install it, will I be able to play in rated tournaments straightaway? Or will my rating on Chessmaster 10th edition only be regarded as a provisional rating on Chessmaster Grandmaster edition and I'll be unable to until I've played 20 rated games? And is there any way round this problem, or will I just have to play 20 rated games against players I know I can beat, all in 1 week or something, to establish my rating before I play in a tournament?

Nobody knows whether the Chessmaster forum still exists then?

I don't think you're gonna like my answers. ;-)

I couldn't find the CM forums, either. I think they may be gone for good. I'm sure you can still access the forum download page and FAQ page via the Internet Archive Wayback Machine.

I seriously doubt that CM10 and CM11 talk to each other. I suspect you'll just have to play 20 rated games in CM11 before you can enter a rated tournament. The only good news is that I don't think you actually have to win 20 rated games - you just need to play 20 rated games.

Hi SaintMark

Chessmaster 10 and 11 forums are well and alive on many places on the Interent.
Here on the Ubisoft forums: https://forums.ubisoft.com/forumdisplay.php/42-Chessmaster
and even here on chess dot com: https://www.chess.com/forum/search?keyword=chessmaster
and also here on talkchess.com: https://talkchess.com/forum3/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=76710&p=901953&hilit=chessmaster#p901953

I fire up my ChessMaster Grandmaster Edition almost everyday. This in the age of many chess GUIs that allow importing of UCI and Winboard chess engines. Chessmaster does allow you to import a UCI chess engine like the latest Stockfish, but you need the software Polyglot and some ini file tinkering (which is not complicated, but rather straightforward). In no other chess game can you customise your own chess sets. I also taken great joy in modding the 2D and 3D sets to my satisfaction. See here if you want to see my handiwork. Hope this helps.

Also. the default Tal personality in Chessmaster 10/11 is rather tame compared to the customised Tal's settings from my ancient blog post. To beef up the Tal personality for more fiery play with more 'sound' sacrifices, use the settings below:

P.S., if you are looking for a very strong Winboard engine, one that you can easily import directly into Chessmaster 10/11, look no further than the TCEC tournament-winning Slow Chess 2.6. https://www.3dkingdoms.com/chess/slow.htm If you set up a tournamant within Chessmaster 10 between Slow Chess 2.6 and Chessmaster's highest level, Slow Chess will trounce Chessmaster's TheKing engine any time.

Hmm, weird that that link didn't show up in my search yesterday. In the past I was always able to find the links. I guess I failed yesterday, lol. Thanks.

Hi Eschere
No worries. I am always glad to help out. Of course the other resource is the Wayback Machine. But I suppose SaintMark wants something more current. ;-)

I have an idea of my problem. I recently switched my browser from Firefox to LibreWolf. LibreWolf gave a "Secure Connection Failed" error message, so I just assumed that the site was dead. However, I just now checked it with Firefox, and Firefox went right to the site. So apparently, there's some security setting related to the Ubisoft forum that LibreWolf doesn't like.
