Classical Armageddon: an anti-draw suggestion

Hello everyone,

What do you think about the idea of an event where Armageddon rules would apply in classical time control? We chop off a good part of black's time but give him the draw odds. Thus only decisive results will be possible, not speaking about the exciting play that it may encourage.

Before you say that it is unfair, let me remind you: a single game of chess is always unfair to black. It is harder to make draw with black, yet he gets the same points. With clock being a vital part of the game, it can be used to solve the issue: put black yet at even more disadvantage timewise, but rewarding him with draw odds. It would mean more chess justice in single game. We would only have to find a sweetspot in the time difference that would make the chances equal, yet imballanced and unpredictable. And each player would play the same number of games with both sides. So it would not be unfair, but rather imballanced in a fair and challenging way. I think it would also address better the nature of a chess game where black and white are never on equal terms.

Why not try to make at least one such event a year? White 120 minutes, black 60, and GO!

Its just an experiment suggestion. I am ok with people making suggestions to make my work more effective.

Their is a difference between "effective" and "entertaining"  I didnt say anything about effective.  I asked if you would be ok with people coming to your job and telling you to do it so its more entertaining for others.

Entertainment is a part of sports and games that helps attract viewership. So entertainment is effective. It could be kind of exibition.

Your suggestion for an exhibition is fine.  But asking people that play chess for a living/career to change just to its "entertaining" isnt.

Armageddon rules: draw means black won

How exactly does decreasing Black's time by 50% increase the odds of drawing?

And what is the issue of the topic?

The OP isnt being entertained enough.  AKA:  "I dont understand top level chess, and its requiring me to actually think."

Where I wrote I want to change chess? I am just suggesting something different for one hypotetical event. You realize I dont have the power to ask anything of a professional chess players, right? Sorry for making a suggestion and disturbing you who actually understand top level chess.

If you want entertainment why not just put alligator clips on their nesticles and every time one player blunders or moves into a draw position, ye old coin purse gets enlightened.

"Before you say that it is unfair, let me remind you: a single game of chess is always unfair to black."

Unless you're a top level elite player, color does not matter.

I enjoy playing as black. I don't see it as unfair. Have you ever heard the football term about how the best offense is a good defense.

Don't be scared homie!
