Are you sure you understand what "discriminate" means?

Yeah, I do

I would prefer to look at that rather than some T-Shirt with writing on it.

I assume that there are rules for men such as -no form fitting shirts over the pecs, loose clothing must be worn over the arms, pants must be loose fitting with no hint of the males genetalia or buttocks showing as all of this could be distracting and we would not want that!

pfffffffffffffffffftttttt

No mention of arriving on a bicycle in Spandex with a couple of socks stuffed down the front either!

This seems like a silly rule, tbh.  I feel like if it's legal to wear it then they can wear it.  Why are they trying to control what they wear?

I don't see the problem with the skirt as the legs are under the table.

Business attire is only required for invite-only events although Ivanchuk sometimes wears a hat to those lol.

Awesome.

Other tournaments don't have dress codes so this will not go well. It's kinda sad that the last time I saw something positive about chess in the news was the Carlsen/G-star simul...

That's the last straw!
I'm organizing a naked women's tournament at my house in protest.

Most rules are written by a Committee in organisations like this, they are usually conservative, out of touch with reality & driven by a need to justify their existance & control the environment around them.

They are best summed up by Author Robert A Heinlein

"A committee is a creature with three or more legs and no brain."

It would only be discrimination if men were allowed to show their, uh, décolletage, and women weren't.

Can you do it in the summer, it's a bit too cold at the moment. Could be mistaken for two hat pegs. lol.  Smile

Your opponent has to stare at your chest the whole game.  If the game involved hours of crotch staring then I'm sure there would be rules against Bikinis and Speedos.

They probably would stare at my chest the whole game if I was naked, unless I could tuck them under the table. :)

FIDE should make the game more fitting for Olympic events... take volleyball for example.  Men play wearing a shirt and shorts.  Women play in their underwear...

Or maybe the gymnastic dress code to express the required leniency of the mind in combination with the high level of coordination between the pieces?

watcha

I don't get why we can't wear what we want to. I mean I grew in a very modest home so I'm going to show in anything revealing but I want to be able to wear jeans and a t-shirt that probably smells like smoke since I visit colorado once a year and usually keep something that smells like campfire smoke.
