Will be a bit of a biased thread?
Coffee house chess versus OTB versus online

Engage your brain.
If you mean biased based on the fact that this site is online, well, even chess.com agrees it is better to play OTB. Also you don't have OTB rating, please read the rules of this thread.

Of course it's biased. It's like asking who is better out of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy but saying Woods fans can't reply.

biased: unfairly prejudiced for or against someone or something
prejudice: preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience.
so he is excluding people who have not played OTB because they dont have an opinion based on experience playing OTB.

I like all of them and really don't think any of them are ultimately better than the others. I don't think I could handle playing OTB rated all the time; it can get stressful and tiring.
Casual games with nothing really at stake are fun and online chess also fits that bill and can be fit in when you can't play chess anywhere else.

Of course it's biased. It's like asking who is better out of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy but saying Woods fans can't reply.
that's a terrible analogy. if anything it is more like asking who is better out of Tiger Woods and Rory Mcllroy but saying that people who have never seen one of them play cant reply.
If you have played OTB and are commenting on chess.com then you must have played all 3. If coffee house chess transelates to games with people in person.

No it's not. I've played OTB, but don't like it enough to get a rating.

coffee house chess b/c I like coffee. And yes I have a USCF rating but it is not listed on chess.com, I haven't played a rated came in a dozen years or more. If you want proof you can look at my name on my profile al look it up a USCF.org. Kind of snobby and arrogant to require an OTB rating to post and it will skew the results of this stupid survey.

Stop obsessing over OTB Ratings.I prefer OTB the most and then comes online. No clue as to what Coffe House chess means.

wow, you just completely went over the edge. he is asking about preference on 3 things. how on earth can you judge all 3 if you have only done 2? that is why he wants to limit it to only people who have played OTB as well as the others. can people stop being so touchy?
Prefer OTB. Not sure exactly what constitutes coffee house chess. Prefer real boards to online because I'm an old ruddy daddy who doesn't like these new dangled computer thingamigjiggies.

so whether or not you like it, when you play OTB- tournaments in the USFC or whatever- then you have a rating. so if you have played in an official tournament then yes you have a rating.
Which do you prefer :Coffee house chess, online chess, or real rated OTB chess?
*** If you do not have an official OTB rating (FIDE, USCF,USAF, etc) please do not reply or post on this thread ***
