Computer Chess Programm 3D

I'm not really a fan of 3D chess boards, but of the 3D chess programs that I know about, I can mention several.
The free Crafty Chess Interface 10.0 has a so-so 3D board. It's not adjustable, and the resolution isn't that good. However, it might be acceptable. It's easy to set up. It even has a portable version that doesn't need to be installed. (To get the portable version, click on the "Files" tab and download the "crafty_gui_10.7z" file. You'll have to extract the files from the 7-Zip archive. The free 7-Zip archiver can do this: http://www.7-zip.org/ ) If you want the normal installable version, just download and install the "crafty_gui_10.exe" file.

The commercial Chessmaster 10th Edition or Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition (Chessmaster 11) could be a possiblity, except that it is no longer sold (and no longer supported) by Ubisoft, and it can be expensive to locate a copy in the used market. The 3D board is pretty nice and can be tilted to various angles. There is considerable setup involved with the program.
The commercial Fritz program has a very nice 3D board that can be tilted to various angles. I have an old Fritz 8 version; I'm assuming the more recent versions (latest is Fritz 15) have similar 3D boards. The latest version probably isn't cheap (about 70 euros?), but you might be able to pick up an older version on eBay fairly cheaply. There is considerable setup involved with the program.

Correction - The Crafty Chess Interface 3D board IS adjustable - Use the arrow keys to change the board orientation.

Hi chess fellows,
im in search of 3d Chess Programm for my Grandfather.
So heres the little story behind my problem:
My Grandfather (84) lives in a retirement home with no internet, he also refuses to get internet. He is a realy good chessplayer but he has no friends to play there. A while ago i got him a computer where he can play chess versus the a.i.. We started with the standart Windows 3d chessprogram, which he realy liked until he beat the a.i. on maximum difficulity several times. So i tried to get him some other (better) chess software. He couldnt play with them because he has bad eyes and realy need a 3D board view. We kinda stuck now with the windows chess, but on lvl 10 it realy takes ages for a move even though he has a decent PC.
Im realy not a big chess fan, and i lack the knowlege what i can do.
So i realy need a 3d chess game, similiar to windows chess but with better a.i.. Better means faster, smarter or with different playstyle. i also thought it might be interessting if there are some different game modes or other chess based challenges. It doesnt has to be free but it needs to be offline playable and not very complicate to set up. I hope somebody can help me.
Thanks in advance.
