Congratz to everyone who made it to Stone League

How many people are in stone league?
Right now 883,560 but it continues to increase as players play their first games after advancing from last week. My estimate is the max it will end up is around 1.2 million, this week.

Im a bit unsure what i think of the leauges. I gave it a big push yesterday to creep into stone..... but i was thinking, I dont really have to advance as a chess player to get to the next leauge i just need to play more games. If i was winning losing 50 50, just by playing an increased ammount of games i progress.
However i guess the higher up the leauges you go, their will be more players who win a bigger percentage of the games they play, because they are better..... or.... maybe not, because they are playing people as good as themselves, so once again, i just have to play more games.
So I think im struggling to see what the benefit is ........ I go to a new leauge, just to play more games, but im not neccesarily improving or any better by raising in leauges.... im just using more time on chess.com. Which can be suggested to be very smart move by chess.com because one gets competetive and cant help it!
Can someone enlighten me on the pros?

@horsefacer - there is no benefit. It's just another "rating" that chesscom has set up in order to incentivize you to play a lot of games, and the odds of winning anything are near zero. It's just a hamster wheel.

I’m currently 2nd in stone league and I have no idea what this means.. And to be quite honest, I’m not sure I will be able to find this thread again once I post this and leave this page.

How can that be? Maybe I saw the number in wood incorrectly. I was thinking a max of just under 1 million.

Pretty sure it was well over a million last time I checked Thursday early in the day, but I could be wrong. I posted a count somewhere.

Hmm, not finding the post right off. Found one from Friday where it was over 2.4 million but by later Thursday, it should have been over 2, easily.
With almost 1 million in Stone, there had to be over 2 million that were in Wood that could have qualified the first week (40% of the entries moved forward, even without ties).
