Why? You have this nice website that keeps things organized. It makes nice diagrams. It points out illegal moves.

How much longer than two weeks per move do you need?

At two weeks per move, a 50 move game could take up to four years.

You have a 100% timeout ratio in games here. It does not inspire confidence.

You should set up the automated alerts so that you do not forget about the game.

Then why use gmail? That's too advanced. Turn off all the lights in your house, light a candle, take out your quill pen and write your move. Put it in an envelope and seal it with stamped wax. Mail it off to a friend and they can do the same. 10 years later you will have played a single game.

Or... you know, just play a game on here.

So you want to play via email??? Your comment and original post contradict each other.

The classical way of playing correspondence chess is through post, letters or post cards.

CC through email was a very common practice during the early days of the internet.  I am assuming this guy has played many games that way back in the good old days.  I have little doubt he would play a good game.

Back in the day of USCF postal chess cards.  I used to play with a friend, and we would have games that lasted 4 years.

Yes, well aware of that. I played CC chess through email when email was delivered via relays, took 2 - 3 days for an email to get delivered (depending on where it was going to and the number of BBS nodes it needed to route through).

But he stated he wanted to play the "classical way". Classical way is via post.

Ok.  I think he defined the classical way as through email.  The classic way for him though.

Anyone want to play chess with me through smoke signals? Ok my first move is three puffs of smoke in a western direction.

I left my popcorn in the microwave to long, so disregard that last move.

Just a word of caution giving out information like emails and such, could be a little risky for all parties involved.

No finger pointing intended, just be careful with your info, "WORLDWIDEWEB" , remember. ;-)

I'd love to play the true classical way of correspondence chess, via pony express.

Nothing excites my chess brain as the sound of hooves galloping to my door. If so, drop me the name of your horse, or for the true purists, your carrier pigeon.
PlayChessPoorly
Carrier pigeon chess would be pretty bad @$$!

Mines names Dropper, let's get a game going!

Pidgeotto en-route!

Pidgeotto used tail wind. His speed increased greatly. Should be good now.
