Carlsen was 2484 when he played Kasparov.
Yes, monstersuperkids are eating ratingpoints faster than a dragon can blow flames. Thanks for correcting my innaccurate posting (I deleted it because it wasnt accurate).

One of the runner ups is Lykke Merlot Helliesen. A fantastic little girl , tactically brilliant. She is not rated yet, and only time will tell if she puts in the effort and time necessary to propell against GM-strenght. If she does, she will be very dangereous the day she passes the 2000 mark. Her most press-covered victory is against GM Simen Agdestein in a simultan.

And what about wonderkids in India and China?
The answer is yes.
Even though the chances of this happening are very low, it can happen, in blitz.
I'm rated 1620 and I beat an International Master in only 5 moves (!)

Using standard statistics in a classical Match the lowest rated player whoever has a chance to win or draw against Carlsen is a 2138 rated player and even that the prediction in a 10000 round round-robin is that Carlsen would win 9838 games, there would be 124 draws and the 2138 player would win 38 games.
These are the results in percentage
2138 wins: 0.38%lets put it this way, could a 1000 player beat and 1850?
Let's not put it that way. The difference between 2000 and 2850 is magnitudes larger.
Actually it is not. Thats the way the rating formulas work. The probability of one player beating another is a function of the rating difference.

I lost to a 1179 in the showdown

In RL I'm rated around 1600. I have beaten a 2000 player before. Could that guy or I beat Magnus? Well, if we go from starting position with everything removed except Magnus's King and a pawn and my King and Queen I am fairly certain I can pull off a draw on occasion lol
There is a reason why GM's dont play lower rated players and it isnt because they arent challenged. It is because playing lower rated players you pick up bad habits primarily. So by not playing GM's protect their mind from the lower rated players. This concept is something to examine carefully.
GMs play against lower rated players.
That´s how they win the Open Tournaments.
That's far from easy. If u have rating fear (u are so worried about losing or drawing and ur rating going down so much) u will lose. I often suffer from that and my rating goes down a lot almost whenever i play mostly lower players in a tournament.
well it depends, in a simul yes, in blitz, yes, in classical....i seriously doubt it
Possible in simul only. Blitz, impossible. Even in blindfold handicap, impossible.
it's possible, not likely though
In 2018 during a simul Brazilian player Glaucio Dalla Cortt Cella rated 2018 beat Magnus Carlsen
