Here's about three thousand games of that opening with white winning. Not all are grandmasters but if you scan through the players you'll see Steinitz, Blackburne, Morphy, Chigorin, Tarrasch, Lasker, Maroczy, Carlsen and a host of others have all won with this opening.

Search on chessgames.com for A00 openings with white winning.

I was just browsing through that list I posted and realized that ECO A00 covers a lot more than 1. g3 . That opening is called the King's Fianchetto Opening, Benko's Opening, Hungarian Opening, Barcza Opening, and Bilek Opening. I had the most luck with searches for Benko's Opening. Since many other openings also fianchetto the king's bishop this opening can transpose into a number of others.

 Unfortunately I couldn't find a way on chessgames.com to search for 1. g3 .

In MCO, De Firmian mentions Reshevsky, Hort and Smyslov.
