At Dan Heisman Learning Center group (DHLC) we are organizing a club, mainly to get together slow time control live chess players. Here I quote the post from the group:
=============================
Several of us have been talking about how to leverage the DHLC chat room so that folks can drop by and find slow chess games. A couple of us are starting a Monday evening "Chat Room Chess Club." Stop by at the top of the hour at 6 PM, 7 PM, 8 PM or 9 PM EST.
Many thanks to DHLC members robobeer and temp_ddg who have agreed to help out with the Monday meetings. If you drop by on Mondays (starting this Monday, Jan. 7th), here's what to expect:
Find slow chess games: 45/15 or longer
Do some post-game analysis with opponent, even if it's just five minutes
Hosts (and players, hopefully) will try to post links in the chat room for any slow chess games in progress so kibbitzing is easy.
Hope to see you there.
We also know that this time frame won't work for many members from Europe,the West Coast and elsewhere. I am heading up an additional effort to get further groups up and running, hopefully another weekday club and a weekend club. Goals include:
Having 2-3 different weekly chat room chess clubs up and running formally
Encourage members to use the DHLC chat room at the top of each hour to find slow chess games informally, even when no meetings are occuring
If you are interested in helping with Mondays or in trying to organize a different day/night, please let me know. As far as my schedule allows, I will try to assist any other chat room chess clubs that develop. I will also publicize the meeting times.
Hi I'm interested in a slow chess forum for those of us living in GMT more or less i.e. Europeans and Africans mainly. If anyone else is then let me know.
