Did anyone bother to read Josh Waitzkin's book?

I know that some people think Josh Waitzkin gets far too much attention (so I apologize to them haha), but has anyone read his book, the art of learning.  I read it and thought it was quite good.  For me it inspired a new interest in learning, that 20 years of standard education had dulled... so if you read it what did you think??  did it help your chess or any other area? and if you did not like it why?   TELL ME!!!  :P

I really enjoyed his games through Chessmaster series and the learning there! I haven't read the book yet but probably will?

I read his book and I am glad that I did. He has a lot of valuable life experience in terms of learning, competing, self-discipline, etc. You can learn a lot from what he has written.

I don't see how his religious views make the book any more or less appealing. Unless you are afraid that by reading his book you will be persuaded against your will to agree with his religious views. There are many times we can learn a lot from people we disagree with.

Are they as good as chess mentor?

It is my humble opinon that any person that doesn't even consider information from another because of their religious beliefs is simply too closed minded to ever learn anything.

I don't get this. My favorite band is 16 Horsepower, wich is very religious and my not religious at all. Are you afraid of being influenced or something?

The only book I've read of his was Attacking Chess, and it was really quite decent. And the massive tutorial in Chessmaster for Xbox was very good.

Based on those 2 experiences, I would expect a randomly selected other writing of his to also be solid.
