In the early 2000s (maybe 2001), I had free versions of ChessBase and ChessAssistant and was using both. Chessmaster 9000 was my main database program (it has features, but they are weak). I was also using software that Chess Informant produced for their publications.
When it came time to buy the whole program, I liked Chess Base better so I went down that path. I've grown attached to it since then and no longer know much about Chess Assistant.
I tried a few free ones over the years. Despite the claims of their advocates. these lack many of the features in CB.
I am discussing with a friend about the differences between Chess Assistant and Chessbase products. Chess Assistant 19 with Houdini 6 costs 79,-Euro. With 7.077 million games and auto database updates for 2018-2019.
Can some of you tell me more about this'
