Locked what does that mean?
Divine Intervention
As a Christian and certified Evangelist I have recently encountered a moral/ethical dilemma that you might be able to help me with. About a month ago GOD began talking directly to me and telling me which moves to make in my online games. I was unsure whether this was technically cheating or not but I followed HIS guidance and played through HIS prompting. As a result my rating went up by 300 points in a short time. I was feeling very guilty about this but I also wanted to get my rating to up to 1,500 so despite my moral discomfort I continued to listen to HIS moves. To my dismay HE went off the boil and the London System that HE was getting me to play was leaving me positionally weak in the middle-game. My rating dropped. My belief in the perfection of GOD as a fundamental tenet of my faith had been seriously undermined. I cannot believe in a GOD who plays such poorly thought out openings for White. I have now lost my faith altogether. Are there any religious/spiritual players out there (Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists et al) whose Gods have a solid positionally sound opening for White which can hold up against a well played Sicillian?
Man what in the world???? You are crazy, have u sniffed too much glue?

Obviously, God is punishing you for something else in your life by feeding you substandard moves. Perhaps you coveted something. I don't know. My suggestion is to do the Lord's good works for a few months and wait for another sign. Perhaps attempting to convert people door to door... in Tehran.

"I cannot believe in a God who wants to be praised all the time." -Friedrich Nietzsche
That might be too profound a thought for this topic heh

I too am a Christian and something of a theologian. Beast719's comments have caused me to do a lot of reflecting. If God were giving you chess moves, I am not so sure that whether you won or not was the most important part. The bigger questions may be: Did God spoke in a male or female voice? Did God seem to overvalue or undervalue the Bishops? These things may tell us much more than your current rating or mine.
How do you know that it was God who was prompting your moves? My rating is over 1500 (again), and to the best of my knowledge God has never prompted me to make any particular moves. I am also a Christian and I have done quite a bit of evangelism (I don't know what you mean by "certified" but I believe that all Christians are certified so to speak by the words of the Great Commission), and I don't see that God would lead you to make good or bad moves. However, I do know of a professional surfer who felt led by God at one surfing competition, and who got all the best waves, won the contest, and walked away with a sponsorship, then felt guilty like you described (I don't know this guy personally, but I read about him in a magazine).
p.s. has anyone ever tried to play the Ruy Lopez against you? Because Bobby Fischer claimed that even God couldn't beat him when he played that opening!

As a Christian and certified Evangelist
How does one become a certified Evangelist? Is there a class on how to doop the masses out of money? LOL j/k
Clearly, God thought up an elaborate 42-move checkmate, but for reasons unknown, even to Him, you strayed from the path or his divine wisdom, and so lost. Perhaps you sinned between moves?

What if your opponent was getting advise about his games thru a different medium, and that medium was just better at chess tactics and theory!! Or that other entity was using the forces of darkness to help your opponent cheat? You should go back through your games and analyze where you went wrong.
If god be with me, then who can stand against me?

So it's settled! God prefers intervention in surfing ONLY!

Christians play only with the knights,
Muslims cant have queens - they are covered in sheets and cant see where they are going.
Buddists offer a draw each game. Failing that, they lose on time and don't make a single move.
Jews never sacrifice anything, even if it will win them the game.
That has to be the most insulting and funny post in this topic

I always thought religion was there to be mocked xD
I think thats what the catholics thought too LOL
