Do commentators get money for commentating?

Do they? For example, people like Robert Hess, Danya, Anna Rudolf. They all are in the livestream giving commentary to the chess games. Do they earn money for it?

Robert Hess is listed as staff, so it's likely he's getting paid and if it's on an official chess com stream there's a very good chance Anna is compensated as well.

They might want to do commentating to increase their following.

What about hosts that don't come as much? Robert and Anna come a lot of times. What about Naroditsky or someone that isn't staff?

They would get clout for commentating, which would increase their income.

Commentating isn't particularly hard... the "clout" wouldn't be much more than "I know how to wear clean clothes, and I didn't show up drunk and 5 hours late."
