No, they can't see the lines... that would be a bad design for several reasons.
If you draw a line that, for example, shows a threat, and then the opponent defends... isn't it obvious that they were looking for threats? That's how chess works.
Much better evidence would be if you drew an arrow incorrectly and they responded to that arrow by making a nonsense move that could only be explained by seeing the arrow.
so basically I use the arrows to mark what I will do but every time I do this the opponent seems to then immediately know what I will do and move to counter which leads me to believe that the opponents see my lines do they?
