Do women dig chess players?

Or are we, in their eyes, "up there" with Dungeons and Dragons players and nerdy kids who can solve rubik's cubes with their eyes closed?

I tell few I play at chess. I wanted to be appreciated for my body not my mind.

Then again, I don't tell many I juggle kittens.

In my experience, women have negatively impacted my chess game.

Well, it's certainly no turn on. Let's just hope for neutral.

Well, women are atracted to intelligent men. Chess is often associated with intelligence. So it is possible that women don't necessarily have a negative opinion of chess players just because they are chess players.

Women are attracted to witty intellect, not dorky intellect. If I walked up to a girl at a bar and solved a second-order differential equation, she would tell me to go take a derivative.

She might also expect something different from the topic "standard deviations."

Guys, don't worry about being "dorky", women that are worth it will appreciate that you are smart and cultivated. By the way, if a girl starts running away don't bother to tell her to "factor herself" she probably would not understand what that means. Just keep playing worry free :)

Women are attracted to intellegent men who make large sums of MONEY.The average GM only makes 50 - 60 K per year. You do the math, Poindexter.

I am not talking about GM's or professional chess players. I am talking about chess players in general. (That includes chess players who don't play chess for a living.)

I routinely go to bars with my chess board in tote.  And I rotinely go home alone on those nights.  I'd like to blame it on the chess board..but...

If that is some womens perception of chess players, then so be it.  Personaly i want to get to get to know the person before [assing judgement.   And if someone is not going to "like you" because you play chess then thats shallow.

An old girlfriend of mine liked that I play chess because she didn't have to worry that I'd meet women doing it.

^ Not sure how to interpret that one... after all she did like it, but only because no one would like it....
