Does anyone know how to format a tactics book in Latex?

Here's a link to a TeX package called skak that's intended for typesetting chess diagrams: https://ctan.org/pkg/skak. See the list of suggestions on the right side of the page for some other chess-related packages.
Here are some docs (pdf) for using this package from within LaTeX: http://tug.ctan.org/fonts/skak/doc/skakdoc.pdf.
I don't know to what extent you can stay within Lyx vs. having to drop to LaTeX proper, but some googling suggests that there's already a skak-based layout implemented within Lyx (lyxskak.sty). So you might be able to do it out of the box in Lyx if that's present and works.
Here are some (old) discussions about this:

The tip about \usepackage{chess} in the second link seems like it might be important, but these links are from 2012 and 2007 respectively, so things may have changed.

I am looking for someone that can help me with this. I need to put together a set of positions for a book and would benefit greatly by doing it in latex.
So far I am at WYSIWYG latex, which is a program named Lyx. I just got it yesterday.
Go to overleaf.com and see https://www.overleaf.com/learn/latex/Chess_notation

Did you get Skak package to work with LyX?
I have been using Scientific Workplace, similar to LyX, and would also like to make some chess positions [but not so much that I want to learn LaTex obviously since I've been using SciWorkplace]. As best I can figure out it seems to be OK with editors I dont use like Overleaf. I'd be appreciative if you or someone else could explain how to make to work with either LyX or SciWorkplace. - Bill
