I got another win (my best so far), this time against someone 387 points higher rated who was on a good run himself, so now I'm 4/6.  Laughing  I cant even remember the last time I won 3 in a row.  It's almost unheard of!  I've been outgraded in every game too.  I've really got to make the most of this insane run of form before my blunders start to kick in around December/January...  Yell

I am defeated including last season in my last ten league games. But I have only won one of those and drew the other nine!!!!!

I find that very strange for a player of your level..

urgh, I can add a lucky draw to my stats.  Deserved to lose that one...  4.5/7 Undecided

philtheforce

sorry should say undefeated!

philtheforce

I would like to add that about 75% of those (ten) games were against players graded above me!

philtheforce

some of which i should have won ..... hopefully i will learn and become a better player ... my end game play is what is letting me down and also accepting draws when perhaps i should carry on

I'm one of a group of local players who could not make the local club's Tuesday night meeting.   So we banded together and started our own club called The Sportsman, which is named after the pub we meet in.  The owner is a chess fanatic and lets us use his pub for free on Monday nights.

We joined the local league and are undefeated at the moment - early days of course, but great fun.

Drew despite being 2 rooks and a knight up.Embarassed

ouch ...... i have been exchanges up before so rook vs knight/bishop with a few pawns each but those are hard to win as you need a good active king and need to sacrifice rook at some point in the hope of getting a passed pawn that can promote? However, I am not brilliant at endgames ....

Well dc since misery loves company, last weekend I lost a game having outplayed my opponent for about 4 hours, and having made the time control with 8 seconds to spare, finding myself a piece and probably a couple of pawns up and his king in the middle I couldnt decide which way to win, missed a pin and walked right into a checkmate.  Cry

Amusingly our board 2 battled on for some time to grind out a win in a rook and pawn endgame under the false impression he was saving the match having seen me make the time control and assuming I'd won my game.  Embarassed

nice ..... well done! The club i play for are just trying to survive in D3 (there are four divisions in the league). I drew yet again last night so have played four .... drawn four

Meh, another defeat before my first win in 13 games. Smile

luckygame

our club is lucky we have 3 kids including me and we all got in the top 5 for state in our grade (3,4,4 places)

On Monday my opponent gave me a bishop, which was nice.  Smile

Tonight I made a meal of my game against my first lower graded opponent of the season, but eked out a win in an endgame which probably started out drawn.

My season is back on track after the mess I made of the first 4ncl weekend.  Laughing

philtheforce

nice to hear, well done! Hopefully i can get my season fully on track and win a game. I have played 5 drew 5. I have not lost a league game for a year, but have only won one drew the other eleven.
