OMG, I'm so sorry everyone. I was just, I was just playing some chess today. I knew I shouldn't have, but I just couldn't help myself. I started out okay, just making some pawn moves, but I started moving my Knight . . . aND theN my BISHOP!! >:D

AND THEN I JUST STARTED GOING ABSOLUTELY OFF THE WALL FREAKING TOTALLY INSANE BERSERK!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, I'm sorry again. Even when I think about playing chess, you know, it just brings out the beast in me =/

Chess is violence.  Sacrificing your army as if they were pawns, all for the benefit of the monarchy.  Every game is a game to the death unless it ends in a draw, which is mutually assured destruction.  There is no nice in chess.

Let's get a serious show of hands. Does anyone actually believe chess increases violence?

Should I put out a restraining order on everyone at this site rated over 2000? Does anyone remember the time when the captain of the chess club stole your lunch money? Do recall the time when the chess club beat up the football team and wrestling team?

Seriously, show of hands please.

Chess cant increase violence. It can cause violence by one player losing and then going mad(Like this http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/s_549217.html).

I don't believe that to be true at all. People playing over the board are simply more restrained by the potential public embarrassment and societal repercussions. The desire to throw the board over and sock one's opponent in the eye is still there. It's also possible that the pool of people who would join chess clubs and/or enter tournaments is skewed (toward people with something to lose) to begin with.

I taught the captain of the football team chess last year, and he could beat up anybody

.....that was random....

ILLYRIA

People used to say that was weird.  Now for some reason they say that was random.  In an effort to correct this cultural drift, I'm going to start saying it too!  But I'll only say it when the other person just totally made sense!

example:

"I'm getting my motorcycle license."

"Absolutely not.  You know why I'm against motorcycles.  My father and brother both died in fiery cycle crashes, and I got abducted by the Hell's Angels during my junior year at Kennedy High (go Cougers!), so no little Johnny, under no circumstances will you be riding a hog.  Is that understood?"

"That was random."

Maybe playing chess gives people a better understanding of warfare and makes them less willing to subject themselves to it as a result?   If everyone played chess, there'd probably be like 30% less wars.  And the wars that did happen would be 30% cooler with better tactics.

Isn't this post random?

 Predictable.

Also, I forgot to mention that once I'm elected president there will be a second batch of people following everyone around like the KGB, but their only purpose will be to wait for someone to say "That was random."   They will then respond "And that was unoriginal."   No tazering will be required in the vast majority of these cases.
