Does Magnus have a girlfriend?

Tyler did get married in 2003, to British musician Royston Langdon, and had one child with him, but they got separated in 2008.  She then had two kids with another guy named David Gardner in 2015 and 2016 (it doesn't say if she ever divorced Langdon or married Gardner though).   She just had her third child (Gardner's) in July 2016, so chances are that she's still with him.   (Source: Wikipedia)   However, she could still be legally married to Langdon, had kids with Gardner and is currently dating Carlsen.  The pictures of them holding hands and her leaning her head on his shoulder makes me think it's more than just a business arrangement.   wink.png

Does Magnus Carlsen have a girlfriend? He is in his mid 20s and nothing has been said about this. O

Who the F cares?  His personal life is none of our business!

He could have no interest in getting married.  He could be playing the field, banging a different woman every night!

Shoot, he could be banging up Adam Lambert or Elton John for all we know!

Again I say, WHO THE F CARES????????

The formula is: half your age ± 7.

I always heard half his age + 7, not plus or minus indicating a 14 year range, but hey, if that's the new wave, then Donald Trump (70) needs to bang up Lindsay Lohan (30).  Half his age minus 5, falls within the plus to minus 7 range!

A$$ hole meets A$$ hole, they'd fit perfect together like outlet and plug!

Today people have partners, which is not sexist like girlfriend or boyfriend!

I think he just means that 'partner' is a gender neutral term.

I realize that, but saying that the terms 'girlfriend' and 'boyfriend' are sexist is beyond stupid.

No is not.

Why does it matter if she is a woman or man? Why cant you simply say you have a sentimental partner? It is actually an interesting and  a phylosophical subject, which your close mind seems to think of as stupid.

1.You are assuming that he is heterosexual.

2.Does it even matter?

Wow man, really skilled stuff, some people might scroll right past this, but, you still couldn't resist breaking chess.com rules and talking politics. Oh, but Donald Trump is so bad why don't we just make a convenient exception, right? The fact that this comes from a thread about Magnus Carlsen's gf makes me think every topic is really in secret, about Donald Trump.

Because partner is way less close sounding than "friend," but merely "friend" doesn't work because you can have a lot of platonic friends. Hence boyfriend/girlfriend.

I get it, sexism is bad and all of that, but people are so hypersensitive to it that they're willing to use a word like "partner," a word which doesn't even really imply sentimental closeness, just to show everyone that they're not sexist/homophobic. In other words they're willing to use bad word choices because they're afraid of being called sexist or something like that.

It's often used as a pro-gay thing, but I don't see why a gay man couldn't just call his "partner" his boyfriend. There's no shame at all in that. Men and women can have a boyfriend if they want.
