Does the fifty move rule work on bots?

I've been versing the boxbox bot, and somehow it can't checkmate with a rook and king vs a king, and since you can't draw with bots, does the fifty move rule still apply, since you have to claim a draw, not force one?

It seems that you may need to brush up on two topics to best that pesky Bot:
1. Checkmate patterns (K & R vs K),

2. The 50 move rule. (…without a capture…)

GL You got this!

PWalker1 they were saying that the bot is having trouble checkmating, not them.
colecollector
Yes the 50 move rule will automatically be triggered after 50 moves, leading to a draw.

Thanks for the support, but I hate to break it to you - i'm the one with the king and the bot has a rook and king

Yes, the 50-move rule works against bots. I've played my Lichess BOT and it works. I'm not sure about Chess.com though. If I recall correctly I think I remember that it does work on some.

Hope this Helps!

@colecollector & @warzare: Thank you for your gentle feedback.

Maybe the bot is not programmed to have a killer instinct or itself does not have the digital ability with the checkmating pattern involved?

In the end, hopefully this is still an instructive situation for you, as these ending happen quite often.

Thx again.

Yes, It works.

I'm black and I only have a King left, the White Bot (800) has a King and a Rook.
I'm already on move 152, where I did more than 50 moves with only my single left piece King, no captures, the Bot moves its King, and only the Rook when I get close to capture it.
It should've been Pat already a while ago, and the only option I'm given is to Surrender.
So no, apparently it is not working properly against a Bot.
