me too, when friends visit me and play on regular chessboard size,i had difficulty inlooking the regular chess pieces and squares especially when its a blitz game for minutes. the answer to this is perhaps so much time is spent on computer and our eyes is conditioned to see the small ones rather the big ones,i hope my comment fits the answer to your question.
Does the size of the chessboard affect how you play?

No, actually, I don't, but I have heard that those with smaller boards tend to compensate with overly aggressive play (and large pickup trucks).

Ha, we're on the same boat
Seriously for a second i don't think i play any differently but i love to play on a regular size board. I will not play in an OTB tourn. on some small crappy board or on a board where the pieces are strange colors like blue and green I mean come on.Oh and by the way i drive a Silverado which is a pretty good sized truck.
With bigger boards, you need bigger eyes too to take it all in (or sit further away).
Imagine you play with human-sized pieces...
A very gigantic board.
I came across one in a school many years ago, but I did not get to even touch any of the large pieces eventually. It led me to wonder how heavy those pieces are.
I make some more blunders when I play on bigger boards. It's how for me to see what's happening on the board. While, on the computer it's much easier.
