Download and upload limit

Hi Everyone,

Just a technical question about internet downloads and uploads.

I recently modified my internet account and have now a limit of 5 GB of download\upload per month.  I was wondering if someone with internet knowledge can confirm how this actually works.  In other words,  during game play, chess or a war game for instance.  Am I using some download\upload usage, or is it only during actual installation of the game ?  If I look at one of the chess videos, am I going to be using those internet usage.  Is video watching the same as using downloadable internet usage.  And does my usage accumulate while looking at You Tube for instance ?

Thanks for the responses.

It's very odd that you have a monthly cap on bandwidth. Normally, you get unlimited bandwidth (in terms of internet connectivity) for a monthly cost. If you could explain your question more in depth, I could help you more. With the information you have provided so far, I will say that, as you have described, yes, any time that you load a website, it will use up bandwidth.

Decided to cut internet options by 16 dollars.  So IM going from 50G bandwidth to 5 G limit per month.  Its my little battle against my internet provider :)

not at all unusual. Perhaps in the us there is not cap, but in much of the rest of the world there is definitely cap.

You do realize this thread is 2 years old right? The OP hasn't even logged in in 2 months.

I'd suggest downloading an internet bandwidth usage tool/meter. This way you can see how much bandwidth you are using as you go about your normal routine (visiting sites, playing online games, etc.). From there you can be better able to plan your internet usage (IF you even need to)
