DRAWN BY STALEMATE?? WTH

This algorithm on this game sucks. I was about to win in 2 moves and it said drawn by stalemate?! Like what the hell, all I did was that I decided to kill his last pawn (because that's satisfying) before trapping his king. He had NO hope of winning at all. Is there another chess multiplayer game where opponents can't abuse the stalemate feature?

Your opponent had nothing to do with it. You need to understand that you caused the stalemate.

The rules here are the same as anywhere else.

Having dropped your queen on move 7 and with your opponent having had a mate in one on move 26, I'd have expected you to be quite happy with a draw from that game. Still, a lesson learnt - always be vigilant, right up to the virtual shaking of hands.

whaat are you for real? That's a major bug....   You should be able to undo the last move.. Facepalm

It's best to keep in mind that a lone king needs escape squares to avoid stalemate. You should always consider that before you promote, take the opponent's last remaining piece, or when delivering mate in the late stages of the endgame. After a while you will start to do it instinctively

This is unrelated, but do yo you know about capturing en passant? I have a feeling that if you don't know what a stalemate is then you might not know about capturing e.p. also.

Before throwing around accusations that it wasn't your fault that you threw that game away, take a look at the rules of chess, and if you really want to take your chess games seriously, which you clearly do considering you have highlighted your lack of knowledge of the game, don't play blitz or any form of speed chess until you have grasped even the basic fundamentals of the game. Peace.

When a mistake like that happens the player should realize who's at fault immediately and then learn from it, but I think we shouldn't get on the OP though, all of us were new to the game and struggling with fundamentals at one point.

Stalemate is getting a draw you didn't deserve on a technicality.  Yes those are the rules, but we all know how the games really go.  I've only been playing 6 weeks so I do it occasionally yet, (not seemingly half of the time like 6 weeks ago)  but the way I see it, we all know whether it was a legitimate draw/stalemate or a simple blunder on the part of the person that was up by 18 points or whatever.  It's kind of like kicking someones ass really badly in a boxing match, yet they run away the whole fight and win on points with light, meaningless punches.  Meanwhile you don't have a scratch on you, and they have to go to the hospital afterwards.  I still love the game and will endeavor to decrease the number of stalemates that I get, but I still have the right to think that I've "really" won even though it went down as a stalemate/draw wink.png  (I usually resign when I'm outplayed like that and they haven't checkmated me yet)

Im am new to the program and chess but I cant understand when I have 2 mins left on my clock and 2 queens verses their sole lonesome king that is being worked into a corner and it studdenly is a  stalemate.  Id like to learn what sort of technicality calls for that?... and they received more points than I???

Chess requires each player to make a move each turn. If one player is on the move, but is not in check and has no legal moves, that is a draw by stalemate. If the opponent is lower rated, they'll gain rating points.

You have to make sure you either checkmate  your opponent it leave the king squares to move to until you can checkmate.
