i don't work for them, but i don't mind showing off this beautiful chess set. i wonder how much schmoozing it'd take to get my wife to be OK w/ this?

My King is much bigger than 4.4"

A new set from HOS.

I'm in the traditionalist camp when it comes to pieces. Antique Jaques more than 100 years old is the sweet spot.

(This is one of HOS's mammoth ivory knights. Very classy.

Yeah.  The OPs linked set and board is very beautiful, but I would have to be a millionaire before I'd be willing to spend $1,000 on a chess set Smile

I'm very picky about the knights (that knight is excellent goldendog).  In the OP's "Varese Series Artisan Chess" set, the rest of that knight is great, but I don't like the eyes and the mouth is so-so.

I would put this knight design (although now that I see it, goldendog's I like better)

With this rook

Yeah, it's plastic, but the great majority of wooden knights don't look very good to me.

It looks very nice, but personally I don't like the blue and white combo.

I like it because of what it's made of. I normally don't like blue either, but that's really a nice one.

vulcanccit

that is an awesome chess set!

I have this one on the way:

with this board:

now I just need to play at a level worthy of these pieces! lol

Don't you like the blue one?

My king shoots lasers.

That knight is really awesome though.

I like the knight in this set too:

ya I really liked the knight too, I plan to collect chess sets, so this will be the first wooden one I have owned.  I have a pewter silver and gold set that is cool looking.

The knight may not be as fancy but I love this board/set: http://www.chesshouse.com/v/vspfiles/photos/E184-2.jpg.

bet you've been showing it to your wife all these years and telling her it's 6".
now she can't understand why she's such a bad judge of distance.
