Easy vs Hard Puzzles

I've been doing puzzles for quite some time now, and I believe it is really helping me improve. But I've distinguished between two different types of puzzles, easy puzzles, which is usually ones that I can solve by just looking at the position and determining the right move in a few seconds. And hard puzzles, which take longer to solve because I need to actually calculate to find the answer. Since I've been doing both methods, I wonder which one is more effective for improvement? Are easy puzzles better for improvement, or harder puzzles?

The only thing you really improve by solving puzzles is your ability to solve puzzles. One of the most common topics on these forums is “ why is my puzzle rating 2000+, by my rapid/blitz rating is under 1000???”

I’m not sure how much puzzle solving factors into improvement at chess. But it’s just a small part at best.

Oh, what would you say the best way to improve is then?

Many people say chess is 99% tactics, especially and lower levels.  I imagine solving puzzles helps a lot.
