Endgame - How to win with rook against knight?

I just played a game that ended like that and I couldn't think of a way to win the game, yet chess is not an automatic draw when the rook is still out. As soon as I clumsily lost it, it was immediately a draw. So I wonder - how do you play this endgame?

I had the same wake-up call surprise happen to me in a game. Rook versus Knight is usually an easy DRAW and not a win. It's only a win under specific situations with the knight near the king at the edge of the board when you can put them into zugswang and threaten checkmate or winning the knight: https://www.chess.com/forum/view/endgames/how-to-win-rook-vs-knight-endings-how-was-this-draw-expertly-held (Wow, something that my thread was from 2019. It only felt like a few years ago)

Most KR vs. KN are draws, but there are exceptions where KR can win the knight.
Some of these were already described in medieval Arab manuscripts.

Hm ok then. I thought I just couldn't figure it out but no shame in drawing then. Next time I avoid that type of endgame, I thought I had an advantage but that turned out to be not true.

Generally, a knight can defend against a rook much easier than a bishop, and the positions where the rook wins are few. This one for example- and the win is not trivial, at all.

But this requires your opponent to make a big error, but you can't drive him there, can you?
