England or United States? Which is better for Chess?

Hi, I am just asking which country would be better to live in for a Chess Player?

I am asking this question on this forum as I am aware of many strong and knowledgable players from both countries.

I would think England is better as it is much closer to the European mainland but then again there seems to be a lack of tournaments there.

The United States on the other hand is very far from Europe and it would be quite a hassle to venture there, on the other hand they have many internal open tournaments (Philadelphia, World) but the states are also far apart from each other so there would have be some flying as well. Also travelling to other Chess countries would be hard, Canada would be the only realistic option but then again the United States would still be better than that.

The U.S. - it got a bigger Chess scene (and also a higher population).

I'm English, but I imagine the United States would be better to live in for a chess player due to the USCF, and the larger population (which presumably means a larger population of chess players too).

A player's level, mobility and what they want to get out of chess would factor into it too though.

I'm happy playing internet chess... if I started playing OTB it would only be bcause I thought I needed to do so to improve my internet ability.
