Estimation on your ELO Rating test

I looked up these positions in the free ICOfY Base game database of 5 million games.

  1. Spassky vs. Tal, 1973, and two others.
  2. Fischer vs. Panno, 1970.
  3. Yudasin vs. Georgiev, 1990.
  4. NOT FOUND.
  5. Osnos vs. Dely, 1965.
  6. Veresov vs. Buslaev, 1963.
  7. 77 different games, including these from 1959: Olafsson vs. Gligoric, Tal vs. Fischer, Petrosian vs. Gligoric, and another Tal vs. Fischer.
  8. Stein vs. Bilek, 1967.
  9. NOT FOUND.
  10. Johner vs. Nimzowitsch, 1926, and 10 others.

Anyone with Chessbase or some other large database want to check 4 and 9?

Puanli_Heyecan

I remember taking this test about... 7-8 years ago or so.  I remember reasoning that in position 10 that Qd7 made the most sense.  Today though that move makes little sense to me and I don't know why it's considered best.  (Of course back then I probably chose it for the wrong reasons).

1915 too low

1865

I made Simple Simon moves in most of the problems but somehow got two 2500 and a 2600 move right which raised my average...

This left a question mark in me too... ( played Ba6 - thought it was logical move in a Nimzo-Indian system - it turned out to be an 1600 move ... ).

Not count problem 10?!  Then my Ba6 won't be counted! =(

Got 1670 there, my real FIDE ELO is ~1750, so it seems quite ok for a rough estimate.

Hmm..  Funny that my score was almost exactly the same as my tactic rating in Chesstempo (Few points below 2000)

My best standard rating at Chesstempo was 1861 and made 1865 at the test: interesting coincidence here as well.

Twinchicky

I tried this a couple weeks back and got 1800-something... I guess that's how I play when I'm not blundering away games left and right.
