Extremely High Puzzle Rating Right Away?!

Just created my account and haven't played any rated games yet. When I started doing puzzles, the second one I got was rated 3000! I thought puzzles were supposed to start at a lower rating and gradually increase as you solve them. Is it normal to get such a high-rated puzzle so early on?

Hmm, I agree that is what I would expect.

I found this recent complaint - https://www.chess.com/forum/view/site-feedback/cant-reset-puzzle-rating-anymore -- by someone who tried to reset their puzzle rating and wanted to start over with easy puzzles gradually increasing. Instead, he immediately got served 2000 level puzzles.

Martin Stahl answered that it happened because Chess.com has recently revamped the puzzles serving algorithm for some users.

A number of other users chimed in with complaints.

Thank you for pointing me to that other forum post! It sounds like others are experiencing something similar.

So, if I'm understanding correctly, Martin Stahl's answer suggests that Chess.com has recently revamped the puzzle serving algorithm for some users? That's interesting. So it's not necessarily a bug or something wrong with my account, but rather a deliberate change in how puzzles are being distributed to certain users?

How does that even work – serving different algorithms to different users? I wonder if there is a way to being out of this new system..
