Fianchettoing bishop and knight

what's the point of fianchettoing (other than to castle) if your gonna block it with a knight? I see KID and QID and I really want to play them but I don't get this move. Help

Just make sure that you don't glue the Knight down to the chess-board. As long as it is able to move when required, the Bishop has nothing to complain about.

You're right, OP - putting knights in front of fianchettoed bishops is a terrile idea. It is much better to fianchetto your knights. See this thread for reference:

The KID simply doesnt make sense, e5, really, with a bishop on g7. However it kills White often more than not.
