Bump. I really need to know this.
FIDE or World Chess Federation?

I Googled this when you first posted it. I don't understand what the question is? It seems like you can call FIDE the "World Chess Federation". Sooooooooo......Are there aliens involved?

Ok, peep this.
I'm pretty sure FIDE's "Long name" is no longer Federation Internationale des Echecs. I think they "officially" changed their name to "World Chess Federation." Although they keep the acronym FIDE.
See their home page: http://www.fide.com/
It says "World Chess Federation" in big font at the top.
Now, the issue is, isn't there already a "World Chess Federation" chartered in Las Vegas in 1998, before FIDE's official name change?
If so, FIDE basically stole the WCF's name.
And peep this yo: You know what FIFA is right? The Federation Internationale de Football Association? This is like if they changed their name to "World Football League" and kept the FIFA ackronym...but there is already a "World Football League," isn't there?
And yes, I do think aliens may be involved. I mean,
I'm not saying that it was Aliens, [emphatic hand gesture/smirking]...
but it was Aliens.

You're hilarious!
Okay, I'm doing another bump for this!
The point system seems to have gotten more complicated with WCF than it was in the old FIDE days:

And here is the list of the WCF World Champions:

So, is it true that FIDE has dropped its French original name and is now officially going by "World Chess Federation"?
If so, wasn't the World Chess Federation first chartered in Nevada in 1998, before FIDE switched to its English name?
Whats going on?
