50 for both sides (move 30 until move 80).
FI

Fifty moves each, else many bishop and Knight vs lone King would be drawn, some positions require 34 moves minimum, and mostly here are a few innaccuracies too...

50 for both sides (move 30 until move 80).
The opening doesn't count? I never even thought about that.
How many openings do you know where there are fifty moves but no pawn moves?
I was repeating the example he gave in his post. The rule applies whenever the situation occurs, not just between moves 30 and 80...

Incidentally, the earliest 50-move draw was on move 69, Pouw - Van Dort, tt Oegstgeest 2005. According to Krabbe's site.

1.Nf3 Nf6 2.Ng1 Ng8 etc; :D
He is talking about likely scenarios champ. You struggle pretty bad when you get things wrong don't you.

lol, I wouldn't be getting too carried away with trying to make out I'm not up with it after your efforts of late Anythony! lol

Well actually it has been two threads now...and they are only the ones I know about! lol

OK... ignoring the Anthony-Suggo Thread Hijack Union above me, I'm going to contribute to the thread!
When one player has moved a piece, this is known as a ply. When the other player has moved- a second ply- a full move has been made. Two plys make up a move. Therefore, it would be from move 30 until move 80 that the game continues.
