Finally!! A actual human who manages to beat Stockfish!!

So there's this guy I just found on YouTube named Jonathan Schrantz. He uploaded a video called: Human defeats Stockfish with Urusov Gambit.    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FC2P6VUYu78

He even made a video on how to defeat Stockfish: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtJeE0Th7rk&t= How cool is that? Finally we have a human literally showing us that he has defeated Stockfish, and showed us how to actually do it! Great news for chess players, really bad news for cheaters everywhere.

So, what do you guys think? Pretty cool huh?

Yeah, even computers like Stockfish will eventually make a mistake. 

As far as I understand, that is not the full strength stockfish engine. That is the strongest cpu player on that site (probably it is comparable to cpu level 10 on chess.com). Those are nowhere near 3 400 elo strength or whatever is the strength of newest stockfish. They are probably over 2 000 and that is about it. Don't get me wrong, that is still a great feat, but probably every player over 2 000 FIDE would have a realistic chance to do it from time to time.

I don't believe that a human beat Stockfish. The strength must have been weak for Stockfish. People can edit videos on YouTube and modify the situation.

#3 nailed it. Schrantz had the whole line prepared beforehand, and exploited the horizon effect weakness of the engine. Notice how he played at superhuman level up to move 26 or so. He played a perfect game on par with Stockfish NNUE in a very tactical blitz game. I mean cmon, only kids would fall for that clickbait video.

Not sure how it was clickbait, but ok.

He's got quite a slow CPU though. I wonder if that's handicapping the stockfish. I tried replaying this game and it didn't blunder like it did to him, so I tried analysis mode and on  move 10 it seems to be evaluating both bxc4 or d7 about equally until depth 22, which took around 2 minutes at 210knodes/s, or just 2 seconds on my ryzen 2600 at full power. Unfortunatly, lichess only shows 6 moves, so I can't really say what happens at depth 22 that makes it choose bcx7 over d2. It'd be interesting to see someone with more knowledge at both chess and stockfish explain what it seen in that position.

And this is ladies and gentlemen, an example of how weak online chess engines are.

Prediction: He won't try to replicate the feat against his local SF 12.

To be fair, he only managed to beat the Stockfish engine on Lichess.com, but I haven't seen him play against it on chess.com, so, we'll wait and see if he has any videos on that.

Lol, the guy you impressed is just 2300 in blitz and 2200 in bullet. ( similar rating to me). I am 2300 bullet and 2200 blitz. 

What a click bait video and what a horrible person who believe whatever you see in youtube.

So because he's 2300 in blitz and 2200 in bullet, he's a horrible person and his video is clickbait? Not sure how that makes sense.

By now the engines are so strong and advanced that if a person tells you he can beat the engine in a fair classical game it's probably a fraud. 15 years ago it might have been possible.

Maybe, but so far the guy actually showed people how to beat Stockfish in the present time, so...

It's sad when people saw exactly how the guy beat Stockfish, they assume it's a fraud. But you know what he says: ''Haters gonna hate''.

2300 are like just top 2%-3%. If there are 100 million chess players, there are 2 millions 2300 online rated players.  However, his youtube title and your posts are a clickbait "a super human revolution doing impossible things" .

Define ''clickbait'' for me please.

Rather than asking a stranger, may be consider

1, ask your parents

2. ask your teachers or

2. google yourself
