Online titles are worthless for obvious reasons . Any OTB title is far more meaningful than any online title .

nope. actually online titles become more prestigious because as FIDE has stated these new titles are for busy people who dont have the time to get the old titles. people these days are busy nobody has time to waste on tournaments but many people want to have a title.

I totally agree with Reb! there are some cheating going on in real life tournaments ,so online chess are much more affected by cheating...it means much easier for player to obtain a title by using "clever cheating technique" !
that type of online title will make people guess :"maybe he got this title with engine's help?"...so how can online title be more prestigious???
And OTB is ( and should be!) the REAL title( no doubts about engine)....
@Till_98 Usually the national federation of a player pays the fee for the title from FIDE but if the player's federation won't pay the player may pay the fee themselves to get the title . I dont know how much the various fees are for the different titles . I closed my old account . Also you have to have 2300 FIDE ELO for FM title .
I haven't paid any single cent to get my title!
And i think most of the time players don't need to pay the fee!
Please don't pay attention to Yuri, OTB titles are not for people who are too busy trolling the forums. And btw, Carlsen is ugly and he is not a WC anymore.

Thanks :)) thats pretty good for a first FIDE rating. My first rating was 900 or 1000 :D did you just go to the tournament as a unrated player and then crushed your poor unknowing opponents? :D

Hey guys, how do you get the FM title? My Fide ELO will be above 2300 after they update a tournament. Do I automatically get the title afterwards? Or what do I need to do? Thanks! :)
