Yeah, all the time; titled players are all really bad at chess.

can you post a game of a titled player falling for it?
goldendog

There's a defense?

lol Just play against any master, and I guarantee they'll do it. Especially a grandmaster; grandmasters are even worse at chess than any other masters.

Here is just an example of a game where I forced a fool's mate on a grandmaster rated 2725 FIDE:

1. f3 e5

2. g4 Qh4#

Michael, they are "fooling" with you. I extremely doubt it, especially as the best response to 1. f3 e5 is NOT g4, e4 would probably be played first, or at worst, Nh3

Do enlighten me!

Isn't that like asking if anybody knew of a nationally ranked swimmer who was unable to make it across a wading pool?

Please refrain from these kinds of posts in the future. You are giving new players unnecessary hope.

It's very clear that there is no defense, as it has been proven using today's most powerful chess engines. All new player should know that once their opponent plays e5, they have begun an unstoppable mating attack, and there is no way to equalize anymore. Black wins. But the important thing to remember is that there will always be other games!

If they do it, it's on purpose... There are some real funky plays which make no sense, until you realize that that the guy making those moves wanted to lose.... Why they wanted to lose? That's another discussion...

I saw someone on the list of caught cheaters who was rated in the 3400s because he 2-move checkmated his other identities repeatedly.
