My coach sends me homework in the form of a PGN file. What chess.com can do is load up a PGN copy, which is not quite what I need. Understood?
You can download Stockfish (which is free) on your mac and it has pgn viewer, which looks like IDE. If you aren't going to be satisfied with that - try to download pirate ChessBase copy (if you can't afford to buy it). Also there are a lot of free programs, just search for them.
I used to have "illegal" ChessBase but it was something like CB11 or so... It also didn't have a proper engine and a database. So I manually installed them from third party resources. It was really ugly but it somehow worked.
There is also a PGN viewer on chess.com, on lich**s, and of course, on chessbase.

Also, you can open a pgn file with a text editor and copy-paste each pgn into 1 chapter of a lichess study. That way, you can save your moves/analysis for later as well.

Just my curiosity. How coach can work without chessbase? I thought that this is "must have" software.

No, it isn't. Chess Assistant (also commercial) and SCID vs PC miss very little, if anything, to Chessbase.
Ok. I just know almost nothing about Chess Assistant...
I have a Macbook Pro as well. It doesn't support chessbase so just download stockfish on the app store. it reads pgns.

The board in CA looks really ugly. This is a huge disadvantage if a user wants to create videos or take screenshots in order to make diagrams. Anyway CA's interface looks like a Windows-95 program.
Hey everyone. I know I've probably posted stuff like this in the past, though is there a good/reliable PGN viewer you guys would recommend?
I'm a broke college student, so I can't afford Chessbase (even though people tell me I "need" it). I've been using SCID vs. PC/Mac, but I just don't really care for it.
Thanks, guys!
