friend told me pokemon requires the same level of thinking in chess.

so I was talking about how chess helps one think more logically, which can help with things like math and science. Then my friend says, oh yeah Pokemon requires heavy logical skills as well and also will help you develop your mind. So I said Pokemon is not even close to the level of chess. I them ask him give me one scenario in Pokemon where someone must think deeply in order to win. Then he says, well Pokemon is situational and you have to predict your opponents moves and adapt. I tell him then where is the logical part. He stopped talking after.

He is absolutely right!

I hope you guys are joking... there are only 122 known pokemon related games... and basically your saying it's harder to become a pokemon mastaa then a gm. Ok. I give up in life.

Becoming a GM? hahahaha too easy!

Okay, chess lets player simply agreed with your friend, and your friend was just saying that Pokémon is a game which also requires logic and can help you develop your mind. No mention of whether or not becoming a Pokémon Master is harder than becoming a Grand Master. And for your first comment, saying you have to predict moves/adapt is a logic based situation. I don’t play any form of Pokémon card game myself, but I know enough to realize while it is not at the same level as Chess in being able to train your brain, your friends point is not wrong: Pokémon does require logic (deciding types to go against types, choosing how to set up your deck, gathering which Pokémon would make a particularly strong deck together). I will concede that many younger players probably don’t seem to learn as much from Pokémon as they could from chess, due to just not trying very hard and being more focused on “Catching Them All” or just having the toughest/prettiest team with no regards to strategy. Same can go for chess too though, when kids focus on just taking as many pieces rather then actual strategies. Anyway, that’s my opinion, if you still disagree, I’d love to hear why, more specifically, your reasoning.
