Fritz 17

SOS to Fritz 17 owner's. I need a little help. I purchased this thing 2 days ago and I am still mostly fiddling with the settings. I am not new to Chess Software having had the Chessmaster series as well as Shredder 13 in the past.

I go to the Classic settings of Fritz 17. I select a blitz game of 15 or 30 minutes. I go to the training tab and select "rated game". No matter how much I try, the software will not let me have white. I have played several rated games as black, but it just keeps turning  the board away from me when I try getting the white pieces. Doesn't matter if I flip the board so I have the white pieces to start, the computer just flips white back to them at the start of the game. If I think "ah ha" the board is going flip so I will start with black & flip to white, it just stays black. It's maddening! 

Is there some setting I am not understanding? I tried the Fritz 17 manual but it is over 400 pages long. I feel like a total newbee, but what the heck am I doing wrong?

Any advice is welcome. Even advice that goes something like "you have to push button X you Half-Wit".

Have you tried the friend mode?

The manual says Ctrl + F. Will switch sides.
