Hello I've noticed from this classical game http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1019060 although black loses his queen on move 13. its not clear as to if white has a durable advantage and  I found this very interesting. My question would be what are some game were one side gives up the queen early on when the game can still be called the opening but does NOT immdiately have a forced win or winning position after doing it nor does he have a losing position. It doesn't have to be a opening variation but just a game where the sac happens before move 20 ?

There's the queen sac line in the Pirc

There's Nezhmetidnov's incredible queen sac in a Sozin

And who can forget this Tal classic?

Black isn't winning after sacrificing the queen, although he is still perfectly fine (maybe a little better). I'm not sure what SirVicious is getting at.

What "queen sacrifice" are you even talking about? Anderssen is a fool!

Your rating is 2354?  Morphy knew he was going to win before the game even began!

SirVicious

9.Qe2,check, Qe7 10.Nf6,check, he can't attack without putting himself in check, 10.Kd8 11. Bxc7,check Kxc7,12.Nd5,check and fork,Kd8,13.Nxe7.... am i wrong or is this a no-brainer!? There is no sacrifice;Morphy forced his queen! Anderssen is a monkey!

Here's a queen sac in the King's Indian first played by David Bronstein:

You are wrong. It's a no-brainer how White gets some compensation for having just lost his rook but Black is still better after the sequence.

Move advantageous would have been an earlier Qe7+ instead of Nxh1 but Black is better either way.

Nonsense! I am not arguing as to whether black has a better or worse position.
I am pointing out the fact that this was not a sacrifice. Morphy FORCED the queen! And, i'm willing to bet that he did it just to provide himself with a challenge!

If i am wrong! Enlighten me!

SirVicious

Look, that's all fine and good. Maybe, i'm being a little harsh. But, this game is 150 years old! Don't act like you know what Anderssen saw or didn't see! I personally believe that all of Morphy's moves here were intentional.

mottsauce

LOL @f4 being a "weak move".  No longer taking anything in this thread seriously.

SirVicious

You may say f4 is a weak move. But what will you say after i have beaten you with it!? I don't play the king's gambit because i think it's a sound opening. I play it to send a message!

SirVicious

I see that i have gotten myself in trouble..ok one sec, i have never actually won against an opponent as strong as you lol... but, let's do it!

bolshevikhellraiser

There's lots of games where someone gives up a queen for a bishop and rook, and a strong position.

SirVicious

Yes, i agree,,,,lol the capturing of the queen was forced. And, the sacrifices were Morphy's.

Even anderssen realizes by 23 that there is no possibility for him. Anderssen was probably on the brink of a nervous breakdown as Morphy yawned and sluggishly threw his pieces around.
