FIDE Online Arena Titles

It's mostly to raise revenue.  The "titles" are a joke in the chess community.  Still, you get a nice ID card with your picture on it.  Probably very useful for impressing folks who don't know anything about chess.  Oh, and picking up chicks in bars; we all know how chess turns the ladies on...

It's basically a ripoff chess.com, with the fact you can get "real" FIDE titles, where chess.com doesn't offer any titles. The titles aren't recognized in OTB play, but you are allowed to claim you have them. 

Arena titles are ok for younger players. The main problem now is that these titles STOPPED appearing on FIDE ratings and chess-resluts.com so they are completely useless now.

The second problem is that after FIDE decided to abandon old-arena and move to the "new" arena.myfide.net . Obdaining such a title is almost imposible since you can't even see who is online (I suspect that the did that on purpose because people stop paying subscriptions in new arena) and the platform disconnects you many times in each game.

After Online Official Fide rating 1400 you can't find someone to play with official rating (which is the ONLY way to gain an arena title)

Would like to update discussion on FIDE online arena

Two/three years ago, FIDE officially express abandonment of this concept, but than at FIDE web there are still conditions for FOA titles, rating calculation scheme....

Last year FIDE had campaign ‘checkmate coronavirus’ where is among others mentioned FIDE Online Arena. So why they still state it as prefix FIDE...

At their pages (fide arena or world chess more) by some news dated few months ago they still say that players compete for fide arena titles, and such are recognised at FIDE...

So many opposite news can one find on net....

Regarding 1400 or 1700 rating to obtain some titles, which are btw just online titles, nobody normal takes them serious in OTB, nobody consider GM equal to AGM, even I ve seen some guys on some open tournaments with these titles published on players list.

Again, these ratings are not easy achivable, fide online rating system is somewhat different, and user starts immediatelly with 900 rating, with full fide rating (K=40 first 30-40 games, later K=20) rules, while most of servers initial rating is based on score in first few played rated games. I play on few sites, and I am FOA member too, and play there sometime, for example my FOA rating is 1000-1200, while chess com (blitz/rapid) between 2000-2150, and on lichess i can easy maintain 2400-2450 points...
