Seriously can't imagine how boring an OTB tournament would be without being able to listen to music. I find it dumb FIDE don't allow it for both players (assuming the headphones are noise cancelling and unable to be heard by an oppy not using hps)
If you find chess "boring" without something else to do, then chess is not for you.

LOL...sad but true. Here is where i get t sound like an old guy. I have never seen a generation that is more "bored" than the kids we have now. They have more technology than any generation in history and yet they are "bored" and cant concentrate on one thing at a time.

Why should the 99+% of us honest players be penalized because of the pathetic few? I normally dont play with music going on because i like to concentrate, and i dont get "bored" playing OTB chess.

Dude, you are thinking about the chess position when you are playing a game over the board. You are not bored, you are focused on chess. Headphones would allow a lot of cheating. opportunities.
